Whois Rosey?

Hello and Welcome to my kingdom! Where I, Rosey, am the queen, free to purge my weeks thoughts and pictures and photos as I please.

In truth, if you ever met me, you'd find I'm a rather quiet person, not that articulate, and I mostly avoid social gatherings like the midday sun. Rosey is a nickname, I immediately prefer anyone who calls me Roseline, otherwise Rosey is cool.

I went to UWA and graduated with a Science degree and loved every minute of studying Genetics, Zoology, and Psychology. But following work as a research scientist for two years sadly amounted to nothing...apart from the realisation that micro-research and having to do things by the book, bored me to tears.

More than ten years later, I now have the opinion that University degrees are less important than the whole University experience. The varied people you meet there, the knowledge, the old books in the library, some of the most brightest, motivated, dedicated lecturers you'll ever meet, the discipline of essay writing and passing every exam, I think everyone should go through University whether you end up with a degree or not!

I have been working as a professional animator for the last five years. Started out writing, producing and animating "Spooky Doll Kids", a short stop-motion film, a golden baby! I have then been lucky enough to have gotten work as an in-house animator on four different Australian kids TV cartoons, and even into the Storyboard department on the last one, amongst a group of the  funniest, most talented bunch of men.

I am a bit weary of the animation industry now. As fun as it is to work in a studio full of talented and humorous artists and technicians, the low pay, inability to get a house loan at 30yrs old, and eating off savings while waiting for the next contract is painful and depressing.

I have done all types of jobs in between, I even tried to go back to University to restudy a postgrad in a totally new, high paying proffession, TWICE!

Click HERE to read about how I came to the following conclusion, but in short these days,

I draw anthromorphic animals, sketch people, and write picture stories, around doing what work I need to on the side in order to keep up with the drawing projects. I have many years worth of stories and characters in my head and it is my job to get them out there so people can enjoy them too. You know you want to! Or if you don't, your kids will.
